“I contacted Whole Foods and suggested a bet. If I could feed my family of three for 30 days exclusively from items purchased at Whole Foods for $491.10 they would reimburse me for my food. If I didn’t make it, they’d owe me nothing. The budget worked out to $16.31 cents per day total for all three of us. In case you’re wondering, here’s what we bought for the month.”

.) i’m working class and i eat healthy not buying at WF, we shop standard mexi/asian store or george’s produce in el monte.

.) many families don’t come in threes.
.) most people don’t even have a WF in their vicinity and budget doesn’t account for mileage if you gotta drive out to on.
.) it’s ethnocentric to think that their list is a regular shopping list. where are the pinto beans? or lentejas?
.) not to mention the USDA’s levels of budget…please take a look at that.
.) that comment about food stamps has racial/size-ist undertones.
.) privileged white woman tears do not faze me.
.) yes i fucking went there.
